RELATO GANADOR CATEGORÍA TWEENS:

THE BAT

By Stella Sevillano

I never thought that protecting animals would be something so important to me, but everything changed One night on my balcony. I was looking at the stars when I heard a soft noise, like wings hitting something.

I looked down and saw a small bat on the floor. It was moving, but very slowly, like it was tired or hurt. At first, I felt a bit scared because l had never seen a bat so close before. But then I thought: it is just an animal that needs help. I didn’t know exactly what to do, so l searched on my phone and found that bats are not dangerous if you are careful. I used a small box and gloves to pick it up gently. I left the box in a quiet place and gave it some water.

After a while, the bat started to move more, It opened its wings and looked stronger. When it was ready, I went outside and opened the box. For a second, it stayed still... and then it flew away

That moment felt magical. I realized that even the smallest animal that people don’t understand deserved care and respect. Since that day, I look at animals differently. Not with fear, but with responsibility.

RELATO GANADOR CATEGORÍA TEENS:

THE END OF MAGIC

By Candela Vico

The heroes of our childhood fairy tales now live in a world that no longer believes in magic, and they must learn to live without it.

Once upon a time, magic was everywhere. Princesses, talking animals and flying people were real, and everyone believed in them. But people grew up, they stopped reading stories and believing in them. and slowly magic disappeared.

Now, the heroes live in the real world. Cinderella works cleaning offices at night, Peter Pan walks through the city but cannot fly, and the Little Mermaid lives near the sea but can no longer understand its voice. At first, they waited for magic to return, but then they understood it wouldn’t, so they learned to live without it: Cinderella stopped dreaming about a better life, Peter Pan stopped trying to fly and the Little Mermaid stopped swimming in the sea. They became "normal".

One day, a little girl saw Peter Pan sitting alone and asked him: “Why don't you fly?” He answered: “I can't", but she smiled and said: "You are lying. Heroes don't forget". That night, Peter jumped again, and for one second... he flew. At the same time. Cinderella found a glass shoe in her bag, and the Little Mermaid heard the sea calling her again. Magic was coming back.

Excited, they searched for the girl, but they never found her. Instead, they discovered an old book in the park with their names on the cover. Peter opened it and saw that inside were their stories and their lives, everything they had lived written there. At the last page, there was a sentence:  When the story ends, they learn to live without magic. Cinderella whispered: "This is our future", and they saw that the next page was empty.

Suddenly, the wind stopped, the glass shoe disappeared. and Peter tried to fly but fell. And then they understood everything: they weren't learning to live without magic, they were reaching the end of their story.

And after that, they would no longer exist and magic would disappear completely, becoming nothing more than a beautiful memory of a world that once believed.
